What is live-in care?
Live-in care is an arrangement where a carer stays in someone’s home to provide agreed support, companionship and practical help. The exact tasks, breaks, working arrangements and overnight support depend on the individual’s needs and the chosen service.
Two ways to arrange live-in care
Choose independent live-in care, where you or your family organise and direct the care with either a direct carer arrangement or PAYE administration, or a CQC service delivered and supervised by a CQC-registered provider.
Why the right match matters
A live-in carer shares someone’s living space. Experience, appropriate training and checks matter, but so do personality, routines, interests and mutual comfort.
Is live-in care suitable for everyone?
No. Needs and risks should be assessed. Some people need nursing support, more than one carer or different arrangements. A free conversation can help you understand which route to explore.
