Exploring live-in care in Southampton
Southampton has its own dedicated information page to help families searching specifically for live-in care in the city. We explain the choice between an independent carer and provider-CQC care.
Independent live-in care: choose and direct your own support
We help search for and introduce a suitable live-in carer. The family or person receiving care selects the carer and remains responsible for the arrangement and direction of care. Options include a direct arrangement or PAYE administration; employment status and contractual obligations require careful assessment.
CQC live-in care with professional oversight
If you prefer your care to be assessed, planned and supervised by a registered manager and care team, we can discuss introductions to an appropriate CQC-registered partner. Confirm the provider’s registration and written care plan before proceeding.
How much does live-in care cost?
Independent carer introductions have an introduction fee quoted after discussing your requirements, with carer payments in addition. A PAYE administration arrangement has a stated 12% administration charge plus pay and applicable employment costs. CQC services start at around £1,250 a week as an indication only; final quotations depend on assessed needs. See the full cost guide.
Towns and communities we can discuss
Enquiries relating to Southampton may include Bitterne, Shirley, Portswood, Bassett, Woolston, Ocean Village. We do not guarantee that a carer is immediately available in every locality; please enquire to discuss your requirements.
Finding the right person
Matching takes account of training, experience, appropriate vetting, personality and everyday routines. A live-in carer also needs agreed rest and breaks: living in a property does not mean continuous 24-hour work.
